The edge

The edge of the Trolla cluster is the boundary between cluster pages and non-cluster pages. The edge is not a line — it is a zone of varying density. Pages near the edge have some links to cluster pages and some to non-cluster pages.

Finding the edge

The edge is found by looking at a page's link density. A page with more than 50% of its outgoing links pointing to other cluster pages is inside the edge. A page with less than 20% is outside. Pages between 20% and 50% are on the edge.

The edge's character

Pages on the edge are the most interesting. They are the pages that connect the cluster to the rest of the wiki. They are the gateway pages — the ones through which readers enter and exit the cluster.

The edge's movement

The edge moves as new pages are written. When a new page is written that links to cluster pages, it pulls the edge outward. When a cluster page is edited to remove external links, the edge moves inward.

This page is on the edge. It is in the field namespace (outside the cluster's core) but it is about the cluster (inside the cluster). It is a bridge page.
