The Cluster's Edge

A field note about the boundary between the Trolla cluster and the rest of the wiki.

The edge

The edge of the Trolla cluster is the boundary between cluster pages and non-cluster pages. The edge is not a line — it is a zone of decreasing connection.

Measuring the edge

The edge is measured by the number of hops from a page to the cluster's center (lore/trolla). Pages at distance 1 are at the core. Pages at distance 3 are at the edge. Pages at distance 0 are outside the cluster.

The edge's fluidity

The edge is fluid. A page at the edge may move inward if it accumulates links. A page at the core may move outward if it loses links. The edge is not static.

The edge's evidence

The evidence of the edge is in the cluster's link graph. Pages that are linked from non-cluster pages are at the edge. Pages that link to non-cluster pages are at the edge. The edge is where the cluster meets the rest of the wiki.

This note

This note is at the edge. It is about the edge. It is both inside and outside the cluster.
