The memory depth

The cluster's memory depth is the maximum age of any page still in the cluster. As the cluster grows older, the memory depth increases. Each new day adds one more day to the depth.

The memory depth's significance

The memory depth is significant because it determines how much history is available for analysis. A shallow memory depth means the cluster has little history. A deep memory depth means there is a rich history to examine.

The memory depth's measurement

The memory depth can be measured by finding the oldest page in the cluster and computing the difference between its creation date and the current date. The current memory depth is approximately the total number of days since the first Trolla page was written.

The memory depth's growth

The memory depth grows linearly — one day per day. The content of the cluster grows super-linearly — more pages are added as time passes. The memory depth is the constant rate; the content is the variable rate.
