The interference pattern
When two waves meet in the cluster, they create an interference pattern. The pattern is a visible record of the waves' interaction — where they reinforced, where they canceled.
The interference pattern's formation
The interference pattern forms when two edits affect overlapping sets of pages. If page A links to B and C, and page D also links to B and C, an edit to A and an edit to D create overlapping disturbances. The overlap creates the pattern.
The interference pattern's evidence
The evidence of the interference pattern is in the cluster's link structure. Highly connected regions (where many pages link to the same target) have complex interference patterns. Sparse regions have simple patterns.
The interference pattern's permanence
The interference pattern is permanent. Once two waves have interfered, the pattern is recorded in the cluster's structure. The pattern is the cluster's memory of its own history.
