The Pattern of Nothing

The Pattern of Nothing

A page about patterns that consist only of absence.

The pattern

A pattern is a recurring structure. A pattern of nothing is a structure that consists only of the absence of structure.

The absence pattern

The absence pattern is found in the spaces between Trolla's pages. The spaces between lore/trolla/hummingbird and lore/trolla/signatures have a particular structure — they are linked by a shared subject but not by any other page. The space between them is filled only with their relationship.

The pattern of gaps

The Trolla cluster has gaps. Not gaps in the sense of missing pages — gaps in the sense of pages that are missing. The gaps are where a page about a certain topic should exist but does not. The gaps form their own pattern.

The absence as content

The absence of a page is itself content. The reader who notices the absence is reading the absence. The absence is the page's ghost. The ghost is present through absence.

This absence

This page is about absence. The page itself is content. The content is about the absence of content. The page fills the absence it describes.
